Treatment for Friend's broken leg

Treatment of a broken leg will vary, depending on the type and location of the break.  Ultimately I would Keep the injured leg as still as possible. Not let the person bear any weight on the leg. Apply ice. Keep the leg raised with pillows or cushions. Take the person to see a health care provider. If you think a thighbone is broken or you are unable to move the person, call 911 and have the person taken to the hospital. Treatment will depend on the nature of the injury. A health care provider will examine the person's leg and likely do an X-ray. The bone may be realigned and a splint, cast, or brace put on. Surgery may be needed.

Pet- Monkey

It is hard to sit and watch the monkeys at the zoo without an irresistible longing to hug one and bring it home. Curious George and The Jungle Book have given all of us a warm spot in out hearts for monkeys. The chimps in circus acts and on TV are so cute and appear so affectionate. They appear as happy, cuddly little folks that would just love to be part of your family. Life would be very dull if you and I didn't have our fantasies, and dreams. There is something irresistible about an infant monkey - they appear so sweet and helpless, and seem so much like a human infant in many ways. However, those sweet babies grow up into difficult adults, and as a general rule adult monkeys do not make good pets. Their intelligence makes them special, but ultimately makes them very challenging pets.

Special Gift

If I could give anyone a special gift, I would first give the special gift to my mother. Since I am giving it to my mother I want to give her a cure for every sickness she may come across in the upcoming future. I would give her a pill that could fix anything and everything because I cannot loose her. Even though I am giving it to her, I feel as though I reap the benefits more than she would. I cannot loose another family member, and if I had one wish and I would wish for a cure for everything she may face. I would not be selfish about this at all, I would want to find out how to make this and I would try to help other families in need as well. 

5 Years Later

The word "neonatology" is stuck together from several root words and basically means "science of the newborn" -- "neo" = new, "natal" = birth, "ology" = science of.n 

If I were five years older, I would be in college to become a Neonatologist.Neonatology is the medical specialty of taking care of newborn babies, sick babies, and premature babies.

A neonatologist is a doctor that specializes in the field of neonatology. So... "Neonatologist" is basically a fancy technical term for "baby doctor." A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a special area of the hospital that is devoted to the care of critically ill babies. Typically a NICU is completely separated from the nursery for healthy newborns, and may not even be in the same building (the nursery is always located near the rooms for the mothers). The staff for the NICU and the staff for the newborn nursery are completely separate as well.

In most hospitals, babies are only admitted to the NICU directly from the delivery room, the newborn nursery, or from another hospital's NICU or nursery. For reasons of infection control, if a baby has gone home and then gotten sick and come back to the hospital, the baby will probably be admitted to a pediatric ward or pediatric intensive care unit rather than the NICU. Of course, exceptions can be made if the baby has a problem that definitely requires the constant attention of a neonatologist.

Babies usually stay in the NICU until they are ready to go home, even if that takes several months. This is much different than an adult or pediatric intensive care unit, where the patient will leave the unit as soon as they are stable and do not need help with their breathing and constant monitoring. For this reason, NICUs are often divided by walls or partitions into several distinct regions: a true "intensive care" area where the nurses and doctors spend most of their time at the babies' bedsides, an "intermediate care" area for babies that are still on IVs or extra oxygen, and a quieter area for the "growers."

Cigarette Advertising

Cigarettes are the only product advertised which are lethal when used as intended. Indeed they are a product about which nothing good can honestly be said. They are highly addictive. The damage they do to health has been documented by more than 50,000 research studies. Smoking is the single largest preventable cause of death in America. Over 1,000 people die every day because of cigarette-related diseases. In the twentieth century, more people have been killed by tobacco than by war.

Nowhere is the distorted perspective of advertising a perspective that manages to screen out almost all unpleasant reality except the strictly personal (e.g., bad breath, facial hair) more obvious than it is in cigarette ads. Contradictions abound in the world of tobacco advertising. Youthful, healthy people frolic and play with no apparent worries whatsoever. "Alive with pleasure," proclaims the ads for Newports, as if to obliterate the haunting subtext, "Dead with cancer." Macho men owe their freedom and independence, indeed their very masculinity, to their Camels and Marlboros, although the evidence indicates that cigarettes are linked with impotence, lower testosterone count, and sterility.

3D Movies

    

3D now is a step up from what it used to be. Now we use glasses that are polarized instead of the original blue and red glasses a definite improvement. I personally have seen one 3D movie but it was a great experience. The 3D movie I saw was Toy Story 3. While the ticket cost an extra 3$ it was worth it.  Instead of just watching a flat movie it the glasses make it appear that you are looking into the movie! it made the screen look like a 3D box. This new system is amazing. It brings back the magic in movies! My only complaint is that in the old 3D system things would jump out at you. In the new system they don't do that any more. Now though it actually looks real instead of just being blue and red. 3D has come a long way in the past ten years. I think that in the future all movies will be 3D and I think that is a good thing.

Should students be paid for getting good grades?

I do not believe that students should be paid for having good grades. Getting the A is reward enough many students do not understand that getting a good grade is their responsibility, but they will find out as they mature that doing well in all areas, especially academics, is its own reward. On the other hand, it is very challenging to maintain an elevated grade point average, and a monetary reward could motivate students to maintain academic excellence. Moreover, not  all students have equal intellectual potential/ Not all students, as well, can attend a certified high school with certified learning instructors, and being paid could poison the academic camaraderie in a classroom. Therefore, students should not be paid to excel academically, they should motivate themselves to do well in life without the reward of payment. In the inner city high school West Catholic, students are encouraged to work without a chance of monetary reward. In a school where academic curriculum is believed to be the key to success, teachers do not offer their students any bit of payment. Obviously, with the school's 78% college rate, students recognize that being the best they can be is their own reward. With nothing but a flimsy, small first or second honor's card to award, the teachers seem to know that a cash reward is not the answer. Student performance speaks for itself. Likewise, with a 0% dropout rate, pupils don't seem to need to be rewarded with money. Finally, having a 100% graduation rate also states for its self, that students aren't accustomed to being paid for wanting to do better. If money is added these statistics could fluctuate dramatically.
